动力比较：高尔夫7加速稍快油耗更低，福克斯两厢具有更好驾驭品质
高尔夫7全面采用了代号EA211的新动力单元，其中1.4T低功率版，最大功率96kW/rpm，峰值扭矩225N.m/rpm，在性能指标方面比上一代只是提升了5N.m扭矩，但是通过降低峰值扭矩转速区间，依然取得了官方0-100km/h 8.9秒的加速好成绩，这比高尔夫6的9.5秒有所进步，同时油耗也从过去工信部综合路况的6升降低到了5.8升。
福克斯两厢2.0L发动机，引入了先进的进气系统与缸内直喷技术之后，最大功率可达125kW/6600rpm，峰值扭矩202N.m/4450rpm。从加速表现来看，它的起步与高速动力储备都还不错，实际加速成绩与高尔夫7在伯仲之间，只是工信部综合油耗达到了6.8升，这会比高尔夫7略高一些。
变速箱方面，高尔夫7继续搭载了大家都熟悉的7速DSG双离合单元作为1.4T自动挡车型，其直线换挡布局不但便利，同时手动与S挡位齐全。福克斯两厢则采用了PowerShift 6速双离合变速箱，同样是直线换挡模式加上S挡，只不过手动模式是通过挡把上的按钮方式加减挡位，这可能需要提前适应。
底盘方面，高尔夫7和福克斯两厢均采用了麦弗逊式前悬挂，不同的是，高尔夫7后轮悬挂为非独立扭力梁结构，这与福克斯两厢的独立多连杆悬挂有了很大差别。
实际驾驶来看，高尔夫7的非独立悬挂并不存在什么优势，不但处理减速带或颠簸路面时不够细腻，同时对于连续绕桩也产生了一些拖沓的影响。好在高尔夫7可以通过ESP延伸出XDS电子限滑差速器，加上悬挂调校韧性十足，日常驾驶状态依然找不出太多软肋。
与之不同的是，福克斯两厢的操控显得更加活跃，后轮复杂而精密的独立悬挂起到了很好的车身支撑效果。尽管两车均采用了电动方向助力系统，但福克斯两厢比高尔夫7更加沉稳精准，作为家用运动车名副其实，不过话说回来，高尔夫7比较符合大多数日常驾驶诉求。

经验和最近的反馈均告诉我们一个事实，那就是高尔夫7注定是国内市场一款争议较大的家用两厢车型，这不仅仅是因为它足够的时尚外观内饰设计以及相比老款车型更为科技的配置，更重要的是，它是继速腾之后，又一款在后轮悬挂与配置性价比方面与国内消费者进行博弈的大众拳头产品。
客观的说，高尔夫7正在与速腾一样，慢慢转向日常用车与功能平衡打造，而厂家认为消费者能接受新速腾的改变，必然就能接受高尔夫7的变化。不用担心高尔夫7没有销量和人气，更重要是你在选车时能否说服自己真正接受。
回归主题，作为今天的对比主角，高尔夫7 1.4TSI 自动豪华型超过16万元的指导售价显然并不低廉，虽然在安全和设计方面它做的很不错，但是面对各种选装包以及毫无可能在近期松动的价格，很多人不认为高尔夫7能够真正超越正在处于销量和关注度巅峰的福克斯两厢。
福克斯两厢在定价上不但低于高尔夫7，更通过1万多元的当前市场优惠拉大了与对手之间的价格差距。当然，我们不能简单认为福克斯两厢在上市时间、配置、内饰精致工艺方面的差距决定了它与高尔夫7必须以价格战来获得竞争优势，毕竟精密的底盘悬挂与不俗的操控才是吸引国内消费者最重要的砝码，在加上性价比因素，这种诱惑力相比高尔夫7有过之而无不及。
