Well, that makes sense. Dynasty Warriors greatly exaggerated many of the appearances of some of the playable generals, as well as using many fictional weapons.

i honestly believe this is the closest portrayal of cao cao yet. just in his tone and vibe, you can tell he is a crafty, arrogant, and brilliant leader. but dont get me wrong...shu ftw.

wow, I took the plot hook, line and sinker. What a surprising twist of events. Great screen play!
Before arriving at the village, when they stopped for a rest and took a leak, how realistic of a script are they going to keep pulling off...this certainly ranks as one of the best series I've watched so far.

While I do think Caocao is paranoid, but he is a hunted criminal. This is a decision that can only be regretted in hindsight.

第三季曹操错杀吕伯奢
曹操躲避官府追缉，逃窜到吕伯奢住处，吕伯奢诚意待操，外出置酒，家人杀猪接风。不料磨刀声惊醒曹操，操以为吕要杀他，因此杀掉吕的家人，逃出吕家路上遇到吕伯奢打酒归来，倍感懊悔，但又怕吕伯奢回去看到家人惨死，心生报复，所以把吕伯奢也杀了。
Ugh, they had to give Cao Cao The Line about doing the world a wrong. The real Cao C it's purely propaganda in the book so people will side with Liu Bei (who's really no saint himself, even as written).
唉，他们又要让曹操说那句宁我负人的话。历史上的曹操根本没有说过那话；那压根儿就是小说家言，用来让读者支持刘备的（其实，就算小说上的刘备也算不得什么圣人）。

I think it's just a reinterpretation. In this, they established her as genuinely loving Lu Bu after he saved her life at the battle of Xingyang. They go to Wang Yun and ask for permission to marry. Only then does Wang Yun comes up with the ploy. It explains why she's so sad in this version.

its one of those duality of man kind of things, Cao Cao is more like what most men are searching for power, not necessarily evil, but misguided and selfish, while Liu Bei is pretty much all the righteousness and kindness inside of each of us, the ability to look at the big picture for everybody. a hard road to walk trying to please the masses wouldn't you think?.....he is a better man than I, that is for sure

He is definitely virtuous and kind but without proper ambition, that can actually lead to a downfall of a country. In a way, it was good that Wei - Jin won because they actually had plans on how the country should be run whereas Wu and Shu were initially very passive..
of course I understand this is a different matter later on.

I am just glad that Cao Cao didn't win. I never liked the guy. I always liked Liu bei and Yuan Shao better, but my mom said that Liu Bei is an idiot and she liked CoCao best so I guess they all had good points.

Pretty sure I could have an argument about that how that would mean ever dynasty was every other dynasty and no one actually ever changed dynasties in that sense. Having a different ruling family DOES make your state different, especially if all authority rests with them.

there is an old play that has all 3 brothers crushing on diaochan. guan yu sees this happen, convinces her to join him late night secretly, and kills her to protect what tha brothers had. yunchang saw what could have happened. this episode sorta reminds me of that play.

For anyone comparing this to the novel: The Diaochan subplot (in Xuzhou) is only in the TV series, so while I'd consider Zhang Fei to blame for breaking up the alliance in the novel, the previous part of this episode strongly suggests that both sides were actually plotting against each other -- or at least, that Chen Gong certainly believed it.
Also a definite plus for this episode: the scene of Lu Bu's relocation to Xiaopei DIRECTLY parallels how Liu Bei was in his position, but with Tao Qian.
如果有谁在把这个跟小说比较：貂蝉（在徐州城）的情节只有电视剧上有。在小说里，联盟的崩溃，罪在张飞；本剧却强烈的暗示着双方都有责任，至少陈宫相信是这样的。
这集另一个亮点：吕布驻军小沛的情节跟刘备在陶谦时代的情况一模一样。

It's an interesting and differing take on the character, based on interpreting his behavior in the novel and some of his actual words in the novel -- the &popular culture& image of him is frankly less competent than that one, and this Liu Bei even more competent (not that that changes the overall outcome).
